Evan Sherman, a native of New Jersey began playing the drums at five years old. He has performed internationally and nationally with a variety of artists including Anat Cohen, Kenny Burrell, Ron Carter, Cyrus Chestnut, Bob Cranshaw, Ray Drummond, Benny Green, Roy Hargrove, Stefon Harris, Jimmy Heath, Hubert Laws, John Lee, James Moody, The New York Voices, Claudio Roditi, Esperanza Spalding, and many others.
In 2011, at 18 years old, Evan made his debut performance with the Dizzy Gillespie All-Star Big Band at Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, Russia and performs with them regularly.
In 2013, Evan performed with the legendary, Jimmy Heath Big Band at Symphony Space in New York City, as well as Ron Carter’s Big Band at the Jazz Standard. Evan is based in NYC and has performed all over the world at famed venues such as The Kennedy Center, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The LA Convention Center, GRAMMY Museum and many more. Additionally, he has performed with headliners on the Jazz Cruise, as well as festivals including the Rochester Jazz Festival, Litchfield Jazz Festival, DC Jazz Festival, Twin Cities Jazz Festival, Bellevue Jazz Festival, and many more.
His teachers and huge influences include drummers, Neal Smith, Lewis Nash, Greg Hutchinson and many more. He is currently an undergraduate student at Manhattan School of Music and is set to graduate in 2015.
