Ron Carter to be awarded at Heineken Jazzaldia (San Sebastian, Spain)

Legendary bass player Ron Carter will be awarded at Heineken Jazzaldia (San Sebastian Jazz Festival, Spain) with the Donostiako Jazzaldia Award on July 22nd, prior to his performance at the Festival with his Golden Striker Trio.
Every year, the Heineken Jazzaldia gives this award to an outstanding person in the field of jazz. It is not a money prize, but a souvenir of San Sebastian with an engraved plaque proclaiming the merits of the artist.

Chick Corea (1998)
Max Roach and Clark Terry (1999)
Kenny Barron (2000)
Ray Brown (2001)

Keith Jarrett (2005)
Herbie Hancock (2006)
Wayne Shorter (2007)
Ahmad Jamal (2008)
Roy Haynes (2009)
All of them received the award in a ceremony with the Mayor of the Town of San Sebastian, Mr. Odon Elorza, and the Director of the San Sebastian Jazz Festival, Mr. Miguel Martin.
