CD Reviews: Joe Finn Quartet ''Destiny Blue'' JFP A-4123

Reviews By George W. Carroll

Tight, Concise, Musical, assertive are words that come to mind as I imbibe the talents of Joe Finn's jazz guitar & his group. I loved the latin-esque rendition of the jazz standard, "Body & Soul'' & as I listen, I hear Finn suspend and blend his musical themes & ideas smoothly for our instruction. He has the capacity to create a rhythmic dialogue as it were, establishing a certain musical equilibrium for the listener to assimilate as well as enjoy.

He presents us with a panoply of cool jazz
with both resassuring & disquieting elements....and this restlessness that I allude to
isn't to take away from his craft, rather he challenges us to renew our interests in jazz,
assuring us with his talents that he's bent on making music for music's sake.
His positive musical attitude speaks well for both his
conscientiousness & sincerity to his craft. Keep on going on dude!!
