JPEC’s presents Kurt Rosenwinkel Standards Trio
Saturday, March 27 @ 8pm
WHAT: One of the most widely admired jazz artists of his generation, guitarist and Verve recording artist, Kurt Rosenwinkel is rightfully taking his place alongside significant contemporary figures like Pat Metheny, John Scofield, John Abercrombie and Bill Frisell. His last album, Reflections by his Standards Trio, received excellent reviews and won him a mantel full of superlatives from fellow jazz artists - tenor sax star Joshua Redman declared that Rosenwinkel ''is without question one of the greatest artists of our generation." “…blowin’ my mind…” is how legendary troubadour, Tom Waits describes Canadian C.R. Avery, the one man hip hop beatbox blues harmonica player, who is gaining world-wide prominence for his groundbreaking, electrifying performances. A musician’s musician, Avery simultaneously beatboxes, sings, plays harmonica and keyboard guitar (keytar), but it is his lyrical skills and vocal delivery that has brought the multi-instrumentalist to the forefront of the international spoken word scene and earned him legions of fans including Tom Waits, Ani DiFranco, Utah Phillips, Sage Francis and The Be Good Tanyas. Riverbank State Park in association with Brownstone Entertainment Complex, LLC, are pleased to present, for our fourth year: “Jammin’ on the Hudson”; “The Concert series For The Serious Jazz Lover”.
On Sunday July 13 2008, music ‘listeners’ and Jazz Lovers alike will have the privilege of hearing a very special vocalist who, in my estimation, has yet to receive the major recognition she deserves, but nevertheless, she is one of the great vocalists on the music scene today. Her most recent release is entitled “Live In London”. This very special ‘singers singer’ is a one-of-a-kind talent, whom we are very pleased to present; Ms. Melba Joyce and her trio.
The entrance to Riverbank State Park is located at 679 Riverside Drive, at 145th St.
Concerts are outdoors, on The “Mainstage” overlooking The Hudson River, and are Free!
Even if it rains, the Concerts will still be held — indoors in an Auditorium.
Performances in July will begin at 6:00 PM and run until 8:00 PM.
For more information, visit "Brownstone Entertainment 2", on the web.
