eJazzNews covers jazz: news about releases, tours and festivals, profiles of the musicians who shaped the music, and guides for listeners who want to understand what they are hearing.
Where eJazzNews comes from
eJazzNews.com went online in 2001 as an independent jazz news portal, publishing jazz news and CD reviews by a group of contributing writers. Articles from that period are still cited elsewhere on the web, including on Wikipedia. The site stopped publishing in 2018, and from 2019 to 2025 the domain only forwarded visitors to the eJazzNews Facebook page.
In April 2026 a new, small team relaunched the site. We are not the original editors and we do not present their work as ours. When we refer to an article from the 2001 to 2018 archive, it keeps its original date and author. Short summaries of those articles, each with a link to the original copy in the Internet Archive, are collected in the eJazzNews Archive.
Who we are
Jarno runs eJazzNews. He decides what the site covers, reviews articles before they are published, checks the facts that matter most (names, dates, recordings and quotes) and handles corrections.
Most articles carry the byline eJazzNews Editorial. We use that byline because those articles are drafted with the help of AI tools, and putting an individual writer’s name on them would misrepresent how they were made. When a named person writes or reports a piece, it carries their name.
How an article gets published
- News items start from an identifiable source: an announcement by the artist, label, venue or festival, or a report by an established outlet. We link to it.
- Factual claims such as names, dates, album titles, personnel and quotes are checked one by one against published sources. A draft that fails that check is not published.
- The editor reads the piece and approves it or sends it back.

What we don’t do
- We don’t invent quotes, and we don’t present an article as an interview unless we actually spoke with the person.
- We don’t publish an album review unless someone actually listened to the record, and the review says who.
- We don’t put a person’s name on an article that person did not write.
We are re-checking every article published since the relaunch against these rules.
