A Review of Dele Sosimi’s “Turbulent Times”

Originally published on eJazzNews · · By John Stevenson · CD Reviews

John Stevenson reviewed Turbulent Times, a six-track album on Ekostar by keyboardist and singer Dele Sosimi, a longtime member of Fela Kuti's Egypt 80 band.

He argued that Sosimi was taking Afrobeat in a jazzier and more instrumental direction than Fela's son Femi Kuti, and placed the record in the line from Fela's mix of highlife, funk and jazz.
